April: last half

Remember: click pictures to see them bigger

17 -- to Crossnore and Blowing Rock with my mom

18 -- Valle Crucis with my mom; home around 5:45 PM

20 -- Sophie's 1st birthday

Megan sat her down for pictures, and Sophie's toes scraped the icing...yummy toes.

You are allowing me to do this?!

Sophie is one!

21-- Sophie's birthday party at the park

Michael, Zach, and Bagel

These fellows worked hard to get Sophie's car put together

The puppy used to be Michael's, but he passed it along to Zach.

Zach wanted a turn

Happy birthday, Sophalina!

It was such a gorgeous day so I decided to keep Zach at the park for a while after the other family members left.  He found these "weeds" growing in the sand, he pulled them out, and "planted" them in the row shown behind him.  He actually did two or three long rows.

"I'll put a Papa one with a little one so he can take care of him."

He saw this dad playing with his daughter, and they graciously allowed Zach to join them. Another child joined them later.  I discretely took this picture as Carlee was doing her math homework with dad helping and the two other children (Zach and Ellie) looking on.  Zach did not want to leave!

22 -- dentist appointment

23 -- children's museum with Zach

Even I painted this time!

Zach "helped" some older children build this

24 -- Sophie and Zach for part of the day

I love Sophie's confident look

25 -- Andrew planted two knock-out rose bushes; train display and Dogwood Festival in Mebane (didn't go due to cold rain); Zach and Daniel sleepover fun (drawing, watching YouTube videos)

One of my new rose bushes; pic taken from steps since it was raining

26 -- The house got down to 62 degrees so I had to turn the heat on due to the cold, rainy weekend...brrr.  No air conditioning on in the house so far in 2015.  Daniel kept Zach as part of their sleepover so I didn't visit Zach today.  Zach cried when Daniel left. Will brought Michael and Brycen over to play "21."  Abby and Andrew joined them.

27 -- Mema's first birthday in heaven (she died last July 13). First birthday since she reunited with sweet Pop (he died June 8, 2012, and his birthday was April 8 -- I thought of him then!).

Happy birthdays!

27 -- lovely day so besides remembering our sweet Mema, we went to see crosses in the big cemetery in Graham, played at the playground and crossed the "pond" at Burlington City Park, and went by Blessed Sacrament to see the outside crosses before going to visit NeeNee, Michael and Will!  Fun day! (post/pics here)

28 -- met Zach at the children's museum (stayed 2.5 hours), to Chick-fil-A for free birthday ice cream (and ate a little lunch while we were there), to Joe Davidson and Beth Schmidt parks before coming back to my house

He made a window for his house

Picnic outside with Bagel

no nose :)

29 --another fun, full day with Zach: children's museum and hanging out at my house (read books, played on 'tree house', swing, watched Mr. Tuck till the soil, rode the wagon, saw the horse, told each other we were tired of one another...stuff like that.)

Also!  I watched from my computer in North Carolina as Samer turned 30 at midnight in Germany which was, of course, April 30th there, but only 6 PM on April 29 at my house!  Andrew got home just in time to witness this as well! :)

30 -- hung out with some of my favorite people, Sophie and Zach; also was able to drop by and get a picture with Michael (we are going out tomorrow since he was going to see the new Avengers movie with some friends)

Well, hello there!

Books for my birthday!

Sometimes I like to begin a big and/or "deep" book on a milestone day such as my birthday or the first of the year.  I will read a bit most days, but not fly through them as I do lighter books.  Guess which one I decided to begin today?

Happy birthday to us! (pic from 8/2012; Germany)

I can't believe four months of this year are already done!

This was very beautiful.
Happy birthday to Sophie!
Your book selection is interesting :)
I love your mema's old pictures. How lovely to have a picture from 1923.
And I agree 2015 is running so fast.

Happy b-day to Sophie.

I liked the no-nose pic a lot :). Yr mom's old pics were like a small snap in history and time, liked them too.

It is nice to "document" and reflect back on life stops. It is a long journey no matter how short it is. Loved ones will go and others will come to be loved and cherished. Such is life on our planet I guess.

Malik, thanks for your feedback! Yes, I'm happy to have those few old pictures. I find old photos interesting to look at sometimes.

Yes, this year is flying!

Haitham, I felt like putting "Hey there, Haitham" on that one picture of Sophie towards the end where she was coming for my camera.

Thanks for your kind and profound words!

Always good to hear from you both!
