Goofy Me

So the other day I decided to try videoing myself for the first time in a couple of years.  This was the result.  Too bad I had nothing interesting to say, but at least you can see almost one minute of nervous me. And when I'm nervous, I prattle. Sorry for this being shaky as well.  Amateur! :-)

Happy September!  May this be a glorious month for you!

*claps* Oh My God, you are so cute! *rolls around in the Southern* Seriously, you sound so much cuter in 'person' than I was imagining! Now I know the truth! You're an adorable little kid playing adult!

But, uh, how else does one say hamburger?

Adorable!

I never thought hamburger could be so hilarious! :D You look sweet and speak adorably!! I was looking at your eyes all the while. When you look at the camera your eyes go wide! hahaha! Thank you so much for sharing! I really appreciate it! In fact I was thinking of you this morning during suhoor.

Seriously I don't see why the way you say hamburger is funny. It's sounds normal to me.I suppose I'm more used to American English than to the British one.So you have a southern accent? That's ineresting!

Several years back,I attended a award function for my son and at the end of it,to my utter surprise,a camera crew was waiting to interview parents whose children got awarded.I was stuck!! They made me stand in the middle with a camera focused on me,with a bright light beaming and a presenter with a mike in hand, throwing questions at me! I was dumbstruck!! :D Told myself not to shake my head so much like an Indian! :D Hahah! The show was telecasted two days later in national news! I couldn't believe that a shy person like me could do this!

Aw, yay! Thanks for sharing. :)

I love your accent! Maybe now I will be able to imagine your posts in your voice. :D I am also wondering how else to pronounce "hamburger." Hmm...

So cute, Susie! I don't like recording myself either. I recognized a picture hanging on your wall. Does it have the fruit of the Spirit on it?

Other than sounding Southern, I think hamburger sounds pretty normal too. haha!

Suroor, glad I could make your arrival back to the Blogosphere so, um, memorable. :) Thanks for your sweet words. Glad you are back safe and sound! Missed you!

White Freedom, welcome and thank you for your comment. Hehehe...I just tried to think of something to say and it seems hamburger talk was the order of the day! :D

Sarah, actually seeing you recently also made me think of doing this. :) So you and Amber were my inspiration! Funny that my accent was stronger than you imagined it to be. Thanks for your kind words!

Amber, I remember you told me before that I seemed like a little girl dressing up. Remember the mosque picture where I have that cape thing all askew? Ha! Glad I sound nicer than you imagined...I think. *quirks eyebrow*

As for alternative ways of saying hamburger...think "ha" and add an "mmm" sound and then kind of roll your Rs in that Spanish/Arabic way. And make the "g" sound more guttural. Got it? :)

Wafa', yeah, I was nervous and my arm was just a shaking apparently! Oops!

Lat, it's cute that you were thinking of me at suhoor the other day! :D How sweet.

Yeah, could you tell my accent was southern. Some nonAmericans cannot tell since they just think I speak like an American. It's fine if you can't hear it. My friend, Louai, cannot, but Samer always has been able to detect it.

I would have loved seeing you on TV! Do you have the clip saved somewhere? How funny that you were thrust into the limelight! I imagine you did a great job though. :)

Yeah, my eyes did get big while talking to the camera...well, I think I express myself a lot by my eyes. That's why I have so many fine lines and wrinkles around them! Character lines, right? ;-) :-D

Sanil, well, don't drive yourself crazy trying to read my posts the way I talk. :) See my comment to Amber about how to say 'hamburger' in another way. :)

Carmen, good eyes! Yes, my friend gave it to me when we got married and it does have the fruit of the Spirit on it. :)

Naz, thanks for dropping by! I'm glad you enjoyed my hamburger talk. :) Maybe one day I'll have something more worthwhile to share. ;)

Sommer, since you have the words down pat, why don't YOU do a video as the pothole! Hehehe!

Thank you all for your comments! Enjoyed 'em!

That's not what I said. I said you sound cuter! I had this mental voice for you that was very mature. And that's not your voice! You've got a cute voice! Cute as a bug in a rug!

Also, that alternate way of saying hamburger is just silly. They're doing it wrong. :p

Susanne said...

Amber, I'll keep my cute voice in mind when I answer the phone in the morning and someone says, "Andrew?"

That happened just today. :-)

But, yeah, maybe I talk like a child...or as cute as a bug in a rug as you said. Hehehe.

Well, yes, of course we say "hamburger" better than an Arab! :-P :-D

Niki said...

lol Aww. Maybe someday we can get together again. Seeing you "in action" made me want to actually see you in person again. :-)

And as for your accent, what accent? You sound perfectly normal to this Southern girl. It's everybody else who have accents. ;-)

Susanne said...

Niki, ha, ha! Yes, I know what you mean. We don't have accents, do we? ;)

Ohhh, I was thinking the other day that I needed to get together with you and then I read this! Cool! Let's do it one day when you are free. Let me know what works for you! :)
