Damascus -- Walking Down the Street

Walking in Old Damascus often lent itself to sights we don't see 'round these parts.

Like old Roman arches

Well, we do see plenty of churches, but

not so many mosques -- at least not where I live!

Pieces of old things like, perhaps, columns

and presidential photos

even on many shop windows

This street is for two-way traffic -- vehicles, bikes, people
Perhaps it's because the sidewalks are so narrow, that most people walk in the streets. In fact Ahmad (Jake) said one time, "Why are we walking on the sidewalk? We are Syrians! Syrians don't walk on the sidewalk." Then, "Ohhhhh, I know why! We are with Americans!" And do notice where Andrew is standing in this photo.

we don't have any mosques in my city either. That street doesn't look wide enough for two way traffic- not with those cars parked there!
