Thinking of Him and Not Them

"Meditating on the beauty of Christ -- such a big subject -- crowds out thoughts on the ugliness of man. If my brain will hold and process only a limited amount, then I must choose carefully my meditations. "

Often we rationalize our wrong behavior on the basis of what others do. "I know I'm doing sinful acts/thinking sinful thoughts, but it's because of what they did to me." But this is just a case of meditating on wrong information ... focusing on the actions of man rather than on the precepts of God ... and we can't fill our minds with wrong thinking and expect right reactions to flow from those wrong thoughts. Scripture tells us to 'speak the truth in our hearts' and I find that there is little truth in my thoughts when I fill my mind with speculation on the actions and motives of others. My sinful heart wants to meditate on things like that, but those thoughts leave little room for the truths that will lead to right actions. ~ Marti B. in the Beacon Beam, May 2009

Psalm 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
