Damascus -- St. Georges Monastery

After visiting the Lady of Saydnaya convent, we travel a short distance to another worship center in the area, St. Georges.

According to this YouTube video, this monastery goes back to the 6th century and consists of 2 floors and a church carved out of mountain stone. A cave is supposedly the original site of this monastery and the most holy place on the property.

We toured this small church

and were welcomed graciously by this priest who showed us around the premises
